Recognized as as a '5-Star Airport' in 2020 and 2022 by the London-based aviation institute, Skytrax, which was established by the International Airports Council in 1989, iGA Istanbul Airport won three awards in 2022, outperforming 550 airports at the World Airport Awards. The awards are determined through the World Airport Survey, involving customers from over 100 nations over an 8-month survey period. The annual global airport customer satisfaction survey is determined by customer votes, while Skytrax, the most prestigious accreditation in the airport industry, oversees service quality throughout the airport. Following rigorous physical inspections over a three-day period, which included comprehensive arrangements and meticulous preparation, the exceptional passenger experience at iGA Istanbul Airport was awarded the highest rating of 5-stars. Skytrax inspectors at iGA Istanbul Airport evaluated factors such as the parking facilities, public transportation, website, mobile application, security checkpoints, passport control points, basic passenger services, shops, cafés, restaurants, and baggage claim, all of which contribute to the experiences of departing, transfer, and arriving passengers; and closely examined the services, accessibility, and passenger comfort.

During the inspections, all factors influencing the travel experience were meticulously evaluated.
